web.without.words started simply as a way for me "practice what I preach" -- to visually represent my core belief that hierarchy, grid systems and uniformity ultimately lead to a more natural user experience. By showing the overall structure of any website, by stripping naked all the distractions of text and ads and images and showing a site for what the eye unconsciously perceives. The eye strives for pattern, consistency, unformity, predictability and balance in the complex lexicon of visual language unfurled to us constantly. My desire has always been to educate my clients and constituents about why a design is effective or ineffective (not merely beautiful or ugly) and my hope is that web.without.words can be a small step toward being that for others who visit.

Wayne Horse + band @ Museumnacht Showroom MAMA

Tijdens de Museumnacht op 7 maart wordt de tentoonstelling German Swinehundt in Rotterdam afgesloten met een spetterend optreden van de band Büffel. Tussen 20.00 en 23.00 uur gaat het dak van showroom MAMA eraf met een live optreden van deze Duitse hiphoppers, waar kunstenaar Wayne Horse/Willehad Eilers zanger van is. Zijn eigen videowerken, die momenteel te zien zijn in MAMA, zullen het optreden tot een krachtig visueel hoorspel maken.

MAMA presenteert de eerste videosolo van multitalent Wayne Horse (ps. Willehad Eilers, 1981). German Swinehundt in Rotterdam is opgebouwd rondom twee korte films, Elefantos (2005) en Elefant Boy (2007), waarin geweld, sociale klassenverschillen, celebrity cultuur, overconsumptie en pornografie centraal staan. Deze films worden aangevuld met Horse's korte videowerken en zijn nieuwste films Amazing Flying Cars, Adrian Falk en A Mattress in the Woods. German Swinehundt in Rotterdam maakt de energie en verscheidenheid zichtbaar waarmee Horse in zijn werk met behulp van acteurs en animaties de verschillende kanten van zijn thema's belicht.
